League President's Message

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF SWANSEA LITTLE LEAGUE
April 20, 2008

Yesterday was opening day for Swansea Little League, and as I had a family obligation, I was unable to make opening ceremonies. I heard the ceremony was wonderful, and I would like to thank all that attended. I would especially like to thank "Just Juli" who has filled in for me the past 2 years, as it seems to fall on a day when my son also has a game. Family is a priority for me as I hope your children are also.

I have already received several e-mails this morning as to problems which need to be addressed.

1. Children who are not playing baseball need to be supervised. A child was punched in the nose by another child while being unsupervised. Please take care of your children.

2. The bathrooms are not a rock quarry. They are to be used as the sign states: BATHROOM.
This doesn't mean to shove wood into locks, throw rocks into the bathroom, clog toilets with unused paper, etc. Children need to be escorted to the bathrooms. If this continues, the bathrooms will be kept locked, and a key will be signed in and out when someone needs to use the bathroom. Also, we are looking for a VOLUNTEER TO CLEAN THE BATHROOMS. Please let me know if you are interested. Please e-mail:
n.hochuoliveira@comcast.net

3. The field grounds look as if we had a parade on them yesterday. There is litter everywhere.  Please clean-up after yourselves. Volunteers worked hard on field day to clean-up and I would hate to cancel games to have another field day.

4. Field #2 had a new backstop donated 2 years ago. This morning it had a folding chair on top of the backstop. I don't know how or why it got there, but apparently someone doesn't have respect for Little League property. If anyone knows who did this, please let me know, and you will remain anonymous.

5. SNACK SHACK....This is our money maker for the league so that we don't have to have fundraisers. Cindy Davis is on her 3rd year running the stand. I know it is a tough job, as I also ran it for 3 yrs. Please understand that this is a volunteer position, and it is not easy!  On opening day, Cindy ran the stand with her sister, and her son  for 10 hours. A grandparent assisted for a few hours. Thank you. Cindy has a son also in the league, and I'm sure she would have liked to watch her son play. I am letting Cindy know that if she can't get any volunteers for the snack shack, we will have 3 options. We will make it mandatory for parents to work in the shack, find volunteers to help on certain days, or close the snack shack. So, anyone who can donate time needs to e-mail Cindy @ cddavis26@comcast.net.

6. Swansea Little League is not a babysitting service. You need to be with your child at practice and also at the games. Coaches are their to coach, and not to babysit. If an emergency occurs that you need to leave, please find someone to watch your child, and if you can't find anyone please notify the coach and he will release the child from the game to go with the parent. Your children want YOU to watch them play. The years go by too fast. I am proud to say I have never missed a practice nor a game for my son. He will be entering college this August and I am already dreading the thought of not seeing him play ball, but I am thankful for all the joy he has given me thru the years. Remember, you can't turn back time, but you can be a part of the memories!

Let's be a team on and off the fields, and be proud that we are a member of the:

SWANSEA LITTE LEAGUE FAMILY

If you have any comments, please send them to my e-mail and I will respond as soon as possible.
Now lets have some fun and play some baseball!
